Scripture Reading: John 9:24-25 "A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. "Give glory to God," they said. "We know this man is a sinner." He replied, "Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see! #1149
Introduction: Last time we looked at entering into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:16-20:16 #1058 Today, we have the opportunity to serve and see the light of Jesus. Matthew 20:17-34 #1059
Proposition: We are called to serve others and we will see the light of Jesus.
T.S.: We see Jesus sharing the future, serving others and giving sight.
I. We are called to listen to the predictions of Jesus on the Cross.
-Matthew 20:17-19 #1059
-Jesus shares the future with the disciples many times.
-The hope of our salvation is in the statements Jesus makes.
-Mocked, Flogged, Crucified, Burial and Resurrection.
II. We are called to serve others in order to be great in the kingdom.
-Matthew 20:20-28 #1059
-Can we ask to be great in the kingdom of God? Luke 22:24-30 #1132
-Only way to be great is to become the servant of all. (Jesus example of washing feet)
-Jesus came to serve and give his life for many.
III. We are called to ask for mercy so we can receive sight.
-Matthew 20:29-34 #1059
-Lord, we want our sight. They pleaded all the more.
- Immediately they received the light. John 8:12 #1147
Let us listen to the predictions of Jesus and serve others as we receive the light of life.
