Remain Faithful
Journey through the Bible: Remain Faithful
Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:12-13 "Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." #1257
Introduction: We have seen Jesus enter into Jerusalem and cleanse the Temple. We also saw the Pharisees and Sadducees putting Jesus to the test with some questions they thought could not be answered without impunity. Matthew 22:15-46 We have looked at judgement upon those who worship in false religion. Matthew 23 #1063 Last week we saw Jesus predict the destruction of the Temple and his return. Matthew 24 #1064, Luke 21 #1130 Today we look at being steadfast in our faith till the final judgement. Matthew 25 #1065
Proposition: We must remain faithful to the end.
T.S.: We see Jesus giving three parables to help us understand His return.
I. We must remain faithful by continually watching for Jesus.
-Matthew 25:1-13. #1065
-Parable of the ten virgins and bridegroom.
-We need to continually replenish our faith with His word. Hebrews 10:22-26 #1287
II. We must remain faithful by using the gifts Jesus has given.
-Matthew 25:14-30. #1066
-Parable of the talents.
-We must use the gifts that Jesus has provided for us and make them multiply.
III. We must remain faithful by loving those Jesus places before us.
-Matthew 25:31-46. #1066
-Parable of the sheep and goats. Final Judgement!
-We must love our neighbor and prove that love by our deeds. James 2:14-24 #1292
Let us remain faithful for we know not when our Lord Jesus will return.
