Journey Through The Bible: Jesus Teaches in Parables

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 9:10 "Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness." #1241

Introduction: Last week we looked at Jesus being accused of Blasphemy. Matthew 12, Mark 3:20-30, Luke 11 #1116 Today we see Jesus as he starts to teach in Parables. Matthew 13 #1049, Mark 4 #1076, Luke 8 #1109 Next week we will look at Jesus performs Miracles. Matthew 8:14-34, Mark 4-5 #1076

As we continue our Journey through the Bible, we have seen that we are to remain steadfast in our faith and that Jesus forgives those who in humility repent and have faith in Him. Last time we saw Jesus' ministry and miracles being attacked. His response, a kingdom divided will fall, and the kingdom of God has come upon you. Because this kingdom is now at hand, we need to respond to the call of Jesus and tell others the good news.

Proposition: We are called to have an abundant harvest of righteousness.

T.S.: We need to produce good fruit and scatter seed.

I. We need to scatter seed so there will be an abundant harvest.

-Matthew 13:1-43 #1049, Luke 8:5-15 #1109, Mark 4:3-20 #1076

-The parable of the Sower and four types of soil.

-Lessons: We need to be good sowers of the word. 1 Corinthians 3:4-9 #1221

-We need to be the good soil and bring forth an abundant harvest. Fruit of Spirit

-We ought to realize that there are different types of soil that we plant on.

-We must make sure that we stay pure so we are harvested. 24-42

II.We need to understand the precious value of the kingdom of Heaven.

-Matthew 13:44-46 #1051

-The parable of the treasure and pearl of great price.

-Lessons: When we understand the value of the kingdom we will be joyful.

-We give everything we have to receive the kingdom of heaven.

III. We need to be perfected by the blood of Christ to enter the kingdom of heaven.

-Matthew 13:47-52 #1051: The parable of the fishing net

-Lessons: We are only part of the kingdom of heaven if we are cleansed.

-We are made new (Perfect) by the blood of Christ.

Let us produce an abundant harvest of righteousness by being part of the kingdom of heaven.
