Jesus Begins His Ministry
Journey Through The Bible: Jesus begins his ministry
Introduction: Last week we looked at Jesus' baptism and temptation. Matt. 3:13-4:11 #1037, Mark 1:9-13 #1073, Luke 4:1-13 Today we will look at Jesus as he begins his ministry. Matt 4:12-17 #1038, Mark 1:14-15 #1073, Luke 4:14-15 Next week we will look at Jesus calling the first disciples. Matt. 4:18-22 #1038, Mk. 1:16-20 #1073, Lk. 5:1-11 #1104, John 1:35-51 #1138
As we look at Jesus beginning his ministry we see that he is very specific in where he lives (Capernaum by the sea) and the message he presents. We see that John is no longer preaching, because he is in prison for standing up to Hared. His message is one of repentance and belief, the reason to repent is that the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God is at hand.
Proposition: We are called to believe and repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.
T.S.: We must be ready for the return of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
