Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 4:1-2 "I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." #1275

Introduction: Last time we looked at Jesus and John Baptizing, John exalts Christ / imprisoned. John 3:22-36 #1140, Lk. 3:19 Today we will look at Jesus and the Samaritan woman. John 4:1-46 #1141, Next week we will see Jesus rejected at Nazareth. Luke 4:1-30 #1104, John 4:46-54 #1142

We see that Jesus passed through Samaria, most Jews walked around this area because of the schism between the Jews and the Samaritans. However, Jesus goes through and brings those seen as underserving to a strong foundation of faith.

Proposition: We are called to believe in the Savior of the world.

T.S.: Today we see a progression of faith in four areas of life.

I. We are to acknowledge our need for Jesus.

-John 4:1-15 #1140 (Jew)

-Jesus speaks to us when we least expect it in life. V. 1-9 (Note hour of woman)

-Jesus offers us everything we need even when we are not asking. V. 10-15 (Romans 5:6-11)

II. We are to believe that Jesus knows everything.

- John 4:16-24 #1141 (Prophet)

-Jesus knows about all of our sin, yet he still loves us.

-We often resist Jesus due to our preconceived ideas. (Where to worship)

-Jesus gives a better way. (Worship in Spirit and in Truth)

III. We are to believe that Jesus is the Messiah.

-John 4:25-39 #1141 (Messiah)

-Her faith is now secure by what she has seen and heard. V. 25-27

-She goes and tells everyone the good news. V. 28-30

-As disciples we are to go and tell the good news. V. 31-39

IV. We are to believe that Jesus is the Savior of the World.

-John 4:40-45 #1141 (Savior of the World)

-Others come to Jesus on our testimony. V. 40

-They will stay because of belief in His word. V. 41-45

Let us share the good news to the everyone that Jesus is the Savior of the World so we may worship in Spirit and in Truth.
