Journey Through The Bible: Jesus Accused of Blasphemy
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1-2 "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. " #1287
Introduction: Last week we looked at Jesus as He forgives the repentant woman. Luke 7:36-8:3 #1109 Today we will see Jesus being accused of Blasphemy. Matthew 12, Mark 3:20-30, Luke 11 #1116 Next week we will look at Jesus teaches in Parables. Matthew 13 #1049, Mark 4 #1076, Luke 8 #1109
As we continue our Journey through the Bible, we have seen that we are to remain steadfast in our faith and that Jesus forgives those who in humility repent and have faith in Him. Now, we see Jesus' ministry and miracles being attacked. His response, a kingdom divided will fall, and the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Proposition: We are called into the kingdom of heaven.
T.S.: We see Jesus predict, provide a sign and promote who is in the heavenly kingdom.
I. We follow the prediction that the kingdom of God is upon us.
-Matthew 12:22-37 #1048
-The Accusation: Jesus is from Beelzebub, the prince of demons. V. 22-24
-The Response: Every kingdom divided will fall. (Look at Israel in O.T.)
-The Fact: Jesus is bringing forth the kingdom of God. V. 28-30
-True judgement is about to begin. V. 31-37
II. We are provided a sign to know when the kingdom is at hand.
-Matthew 12:38-45 #1049
-A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign. V. 38-39
-We have received the sign of Jonah, Jesus died and rose on the third day.
-If we do not act, we will be worse off than before we heard the good news. V. 43-45
III. We see who our family is when we promote the kingdom of God.
-Matthew 12:46-50 #1049, Luke 11:27-28 #1116
-Who is our family, those who do the will of the Father in heaven.
Let us be part of the kingdom that is united through the blood of Christ.
