Scripture Reading: Matthew 9:12-13 "On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Introduction: Last time we looked at Jesus feeding the Five Thousand and walking on water. Matt. 14:13-33, Mark 6, Luke 9, John 6 #1143 and at Jesus teaching the words of eternal life. John 6:22-71 #1144 Today we see that we need to Give our hearts to Jesus. Matt. 15 #1053
Many crowds followed Jesus after He fed the five thousand, He then started to teach about the true bread of eternal life and many left Him for they demanded a sign. He now teaches about the heart and those who have given their heart to Him are true followers and are healed.
Proposition: We are called to give our heart to Jesus.
T.S.: We need to put our faith in him.
I. We are to follow Jesus rather than the traditions of man.
-Matthew 15:1-20. #1053
-We are cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
-We must not be more interested in man's laws rather than Christ Law.
-We must have control of our tongue in order to be clean. 1 Peter 3:10 #1297
II. We are to have great faith in Jesus' power to heal.
-Matthew 15:21-28. #1053
-Story of the Canaanite woman.
-She believed in the power of Jesus and begged him to heal her daughter.
-We ought to have great faith in Jesus. Romans 11:11-24 #1214
III. We are to know that Jesus will provide for our needs.
-Matthew 15:29-39. #1053
-Jesus is full of compassion and will supply us with everything we need. 2 Peter 1:3
-Jesus will provide for us so we can worship him in amazement.
Let us give our hearts to Jesus by having faith in His power to cleanse.
